A Christmas Winter Wonderland in Austria with Marie

Our adventure begins as you land at Vienna International Airport, where you’ll make your way to our accommodation located in the city, ready to meet Marie and the group in the afternoon/evening (time TBC).

Once settled, you’ll be immersed in the festive atmosphere of Vienna by visiting the famous Christmas markets at Rathausplatz and Karlsplatz. Sip on hot mulled wine, indulge in gingerbread, and taste local delicacies as you stroll through stalls illuminated by twinkling lights.

For dinner, we’ll enjoy an authentic Austrian meal at a local restaurant such as Plachutta Wollzeile, setting the tone for a delightful evening in this magical city, and a week exploring a Christmas winter wonderland.

Your second day in Vienna is packed with culture and holiday cheer. Begin with a visit to the majestic Schönbrunn Palace, where you can explore its splendid halls and wander through its enchanting Christmas market filled with traditional crafts and seasonal treats.

In the afternoon, visit the Belvedere Palace and its equally charming market, known for gourmet delights and unique finds. As the evening approaches, a stroll through the Maria-Theresien-Platz Christmas Market offers a picturesque setting to end your day.

We will likely dine at an authentic Vietnamese restaurant (like Figlmüller) to round off another perfect day in Vienna.

Today will start early with a scenic train ride to Salzburg, a city renowned for its baroque architecture and rich musical heritage.

Spend the day exploring Salzburg’s Old Town, where highlights include Mirabell Palace, Hohensalzburg Fortress, and Salzburg Cathedral. A visit to the Residenzplatz Christmas Market adds a festive touch, allowing you to savor local delicacies and shop for holiday souvenirs, as well as lunch in a local restuarant or café.

After a day of sightseeing, we will unwind with a relaxing dinner.

Today, you’ll embark on a journey by train to Hallstatt, one of Austria’s most picturesque villages. Surrounded by mountains and a serene lake, Hallstatt offers breathtaking views and a quaint Christmas market filled with local crafts and seasonal fare.

After exploring the village and visiting the Hallstatt Skywalk, enjoy lunch at a lakeside restaurant while taking in the scenery. In the evening, we’ll enjoy traditional Austrian fare at a local restaurant.

After breakfast we will board a train to Innsbruck, a scenic alpine city nestled beneath snow-covered mountains.

Upon arrival, check into your hotel and explore the Old Town Christmas Market, where festive stalls sit against the backdrop of the towering Alps. In the evening, indulge in a hearty Tyrolean meal at a local restaurant, setting the stage for your Innsbruck adventure.
