Welcome to the Land of Fire and Ice, filled with glaciers, volcanoes, unique black sand beaches, and northern light skies! We will take you on a journey to maximize your experience in this beautiful country. We have put together a custom-made itinerary unlike any other to make this your trip of a lifetime. You will visit countless waterfalls, dramatic coastlines, take a boat ride amidst glaciers, walk through a cave, cross a raging river in a bus to see the infamous Thor’s Valley, hike across a glacier (equipment provided), see the local wildlife, and perhaps even catch the spectacular Northern Lights! As a bonus, your two hosts will assist with any photography questions, whether you have a professional camera or simply a cell phone.

Galina Podolsky

Galina is a photographer and outdoor lover out of Sweden, who grew up in a family that traveled and spent more time outdoors than indoors. In 2017, while she was a practicing PT, she discovered her passion for landscape photography and has since worked with clients on planning trips as well as traveling herself to capture and share the beauty of the world with others.  She loves helping people find their creativity and passion for the outdoors and has previously done small workshops teaching basic photography composition and editing.

Jennifer Hadley

Jennifer Hadley is an award-winning wildlife and landscape photographer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. From the Arctic to Africa, to the last frontier and beyond; she captures unique behavior-based images and film that tells the stories of the world’s wildlife. She has been featured in international publications and co-produced the award-winning documentary film, “Right of Passage”, highlighting the plight of the critically endangered red wolves. Additionally, she co-produced a short film called “For the Love of Red Wolves”, which has been introduced into the public school system in children’s classrooms throughout North Carolina.

Jennifer was the grand prize winner as well as the People’s Choice winner of the 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. She also placed 3rd in the North American Nature Photography Association Showcase in the same year.

Jennifer loves sharing her passion for the outdoors with fellow travelers and works with them to improve their photography skills based on their own unique aspirations.

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival – Transfer Keflavík – Reykjavík with Flybus

Arrive at Keflavik airport and have a complimentary shuttle take you to the hotel in Reykjavik. We all enjoy a welcome dinner and get to know one another and your hosts!

Overnight: Fosshotel Reykjavík
Meals: Dinner

Day 2. Bjarnafoss – Búðarkirkja – Lóndrangar – Vatnshellir - Djúpalónssandur

We will travel along the Snaefellsness Peninsula passing Bjarnafoss waterfall, walking along two dramatic black sand beaches, seeing the famous Icelandic black church named Budarkirkja, and doing a cave tour in Vatnshellir Lava Cave.

Day 3. Kirkjufell – Kirkjufellsfoss – Svöðufoss – Rauðfeldsgjá – Ytri Tunga - Þingvellir

We continue exploring Snaefellsness Peninsula with visits to Kirkjufell mountain and waterfall, a short walk into Raudfeldsgja Gorge, stop by Ytri Tunga beach to see seals and seabirds, and finally Thingvellir National Park where you can stand between two continental plates

Day 4. Gljufrabui - Seljalandsfoss – Þórsmörk

We start with an overlook of Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, followed by a short but vivid walk through Gljufrabui Canyon to see a hidden waterfall. Then we take a bus across the roaring Krossa River to reach Thor’s Valley – one of the least accessible and most significant sights in Iceland!

Day 5. Skógafoss – Sólheimajökull Glacier – Reynisfjara

We visit the most well-known waterfall in Iceland – Skogafoss, followed by a glacier walk on Solheimajokull Glacier (proper equipment will be provided). We complete this exciting day by watching powerful tidal waves at Reynifsjara Beach as well as seeing its extraordinary basalt column formations.

Day 6. Fjaðrárgljúfur – Stjórnarfoss – Skaftafell – Svartifoss - Svínafellsjökull

We take a short walk along a serpent-like canyon named Fjadrargljufur, followed by a stop to the lesser-known Stjornarfoss waterfall. We continue our journey to Skaftafell waterfall located next to the largest glacier in Iceland, Vatnajokull. We will also have a unique chance to walk down towards the massive glacier towers in Svinafellsjokull lagoon.

Day 7. Diamond Beach – Jökulsárlón – Jokulsarlon Glacier Boat Tour

We begin our day at Diamond Beach with scattered chunks and orbs of ice that sparkle like diamonds and come from the nearby Breidamerkurjokull glacier.  We then take a boat tour at Jokulsarlon glacier where we may have a chance to see seals swimming or relaxing on top of the icebergs.  Finally, we start our journey back towards Reykjavik, stopping by to take in an overlook of the massive Skaftafell Glacier.

Day 8. Departure – Reykjavík – Keflavík Airport with Flybus

We finish up our adventures with a farewell breakfast at the hotel and any final questions for your two hosts, Galina and Jennifer. Complimentary airport transfers will be provided, and if you have late-afternoon flights, you are welcome to explore Reykjavik on your own!

Please note, this trip includes 3 moderately challenging hikes that are 4 miles (6.5km) or less. If you are unable to participate, one of the hosts will stay with you to complete a different activity.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you cancel a Pending trip, your deposit will be fully refundable.

If you cancel your booking for a confirmed trip, some fees may apply.

Cancellation of a confirmed trip 61+ days before the commencement of your trip, your deposit will be transferrable to another trip. If you cancel a confirmed trip 60 days or less before its commencement then payments will not be refundable.
