Day 6Hlane National Park
The adventure continues as we cross into the small yet wildlife-rich nation of Eswatini, heading to Hlane Royal National Park. This afternoon offers another chance to spot your favorite animals on a sunset game drive. As the golden hues of the setting sun illuminate the grasslands, we’ll return to camp for an evening around the campfire. If we’re lucky, the night will be filled with the sounds of traditional Swazi singing and drumming, performed by local rangers, adding a magical end to a day of exploration.
Day 7Zulu Community Stay
Today, we cross back into South Africa and journey southward toward Pongolapoort Nature Reserve, where the scenic views are nothing short of spectacular. After settling into our camp, we’ll head to a nearby village to immerse ourselves in the traditional lifestyle of the region. As the day winds down, we’ll gather around a campfire by the majestic Lake Jozini, watching the sun set as a local storyteller shares tales of the area, accompanied by an authentic Zulu meal.
Day 8Coastal Towns
Today, we make our way to the coast, where we’ll check into a charming beach lodge nestled right by the ocean. The afternoon is yours to unwind—whether that means soaking up the sun on the sandy shores, taking a refreshing dip in the sea, or simply lounging by the pool with a good book. As evening falls, we’ll gather for a special culinary treat: Bunny Chow. This iconic South African dish, which consists of a hollowed-out loaf of bread filled with rich, flavorful curry, is a must-try experience that perfectly captures the local food culture. It’s the perfect way to end a day of relaxation by the beach.

ARRIVAL INFORMATION
Your South Africa adventure kicks off in Johannesburg, so it’s best to arrive on the start date of the trip, or earlier. There are no scheduled activities on the first day, meaning you can arrive at any time that suits you. If you decide to come in early, no worries – we’ll still be there to pick you up from the airport if you’re staying at our recommended accommodation. Keep in mind that check-in starts at 2pm.
AFTER THE TRIP
Your adventure wraps up in the vibrant city of Cape Town, which conveniently has its own international airport. If you’re heading straight home after the trip, we recommend flying out of Cape Town International Airport. Ideally, book your flights into Johannesburg and out of Cape Town for the smoothest travel experience. If you need to return to Johannesburg, you’ll need to catch a 2-hour flight from Cape Town to O.R. Tambo International. To play it safe, we suggest booking any onward flights from Johannesburg for after 3pm on Day 12. Your group leader will be happy to help you with any other travel plans within South Africa.
VISAS
If you’re a passport holder from the UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Finland, or a few other select countries, you won’t need a visa for stays in South Africa of 90 days or less. For everyone else, a Visitor’s Visa is required, so it’s a good idea to double-check the latest travel advice from your government before you go.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Travel insurance is compulsory, and you will be asked to provide proof of your cover before your trip begins.
