Itinerary

Day 1. WELCOME TO CAIRO

After your arrival in Cairo, capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a person from our English-speaking team will be waiting at your departure to assist you during the visa process, inform all the details of your trip and clear any type of doubt or query that you have as well and make a brief presentation of the city and its day to day. The transfer to the hotel will be made by one of our private air-conditioned vehicles.

At the hotel, your assistant will help you with the registration. The rest of the day is for you to relax, and begin to enjoy the comforts of your hotel.

Day 2. GIZA, THE PYRAMIDS & SAQQARA

After a Delicious breakfast (with typical products) the route will begin through the most important points of Interest in the biggest metropoli of the african continent.

The Pyramids of Giza is the first place you will visit with our oficial Eglish-speaker guide, you will be amazed with the majesty of the Great Sphinx of Giza and The Great Pyramid of Giza or The Pyramid of Khufu, it is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world still in existence, and can be seen from the main entrance esplanade and from closer.

Optionally, you can add the Excursion to the Necropolis of Saqqara, This World Heritage of Humanity where the funerary complex of King Djoser stands out, a city built exclusively for the life of the king in the afterlife, and the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the first stone structure built in a pyramidal shape and that symbolizes the beginning of this type of construction in Egypt.

By Night if you like, you can optionally, see the ligth show on the Giza Pyramids, an extraordinary route beginig in the sphinx and touring all the history of Egypt, or you can enjoy an unique dinner show in a floating restaurant on the Nile.

Day 3. HISTORIC CAIRO

You will start the day with a delicious breakfast in the hotel dining room and then you will have the day off where can take the optional full day tour of Cairo where you will visit the most important places of this historic city, starting with the Museum of Art Pharaonic, in the heart of the city where countless artifacts of incalculable value stand out, such as Tutankhamun’s treasure, sarcophagi, mummies and sculptures of unimaginable beauty.

Next you will go to historic Cairo, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and which, since the 10th century, was the area of ​​the Caliphs and their mosques. The Citadel of Saladin stands out, later fortified to defend it from the Crusaders almost a millennium ago.

Afterwards, you will visit the Khan El Khalili bazaar, where you will have free time to test your negotiating skills.

Before returning to the hotel, you will personally visit the Coptic neighborhood, with its melting pot of religions and in which the Hanging Church built on the Babylon Fortress stands out, the church of San Sergio where it is believed that the Holy Family took refuge in Egypt when fleeing of Herod and the synagogue of Ben Ezra, one of the oldest in the country.

Day 4. CAIRO & ASWAN

Early in the morning and after a refreshing breakfast, your English-speaking staff will transfer you to the Cairo Airport where you will take a flight to the city of Aswan.

Then you will travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the city of Aswan, where you will embark to visit the inaccessible island of Philae and see the temple built in honor of the goddess Isis and which, like Abu Simbel and other temples in Egypt, had to be moved from its location due to the danger of being covered by the flooding of the Nile.

Later, you will visit the famous Aswan Dam, an impressive work of hydraulic engineering started by the British Empire and completed by the Egyptians in the middle of the last century.

Later you will take advantage of the occasion and take a picturesque ride in “Felucca”, the traditional quintessential Egyptian wooden boat chosen for trade along the Nile for its excellent maneuverability and from where you will enjoy the landscape and a refreshing atmosphere. During your walk you will be able to see Elephantine Island, one of the oldest ivory trading centers in the world, as well as Kitchener Island, famous for housing a beautiful botanical garden and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. A simple glance will serve to understand why the Supreme Ismaelite Chief chose this place for his eternal rest. At night, you will enjoy a tasty dinner on board and then rest.

Day 5. ASWAN, KOM OMBO & EDFU

After a delicious breakfast on board, you will have the possibility to optionally take the excursion to the temples of Abu Simbel and its famous archaeological complex. This wonderful temple was on the verge of disappearing due to the enormous flooding of the Nile. Within the complex, the main point of reference is the Temple of Ramses II, which on its main façade has 4 amazing statues about 20 meters high. You can enjoy the place both during the day and at night, when the lighting reflects off the stone.

You will continue the navigation towards Kom Ombo, where you will enjoy a visit to the temple dedicated to Haroeris, the falcon god, and Sobek, the crocodile god. You will make a brief visit to an exhibition of mummified crocodiles in a good state of preservation that will help you to understand better the culture of Ancient Egypt.

After the visit, you will embark towards Edfu, and spend the night on board resting.

Day 6. EDFU, ESNA & LUXOR

In the morning you will enjoy a delicious breakfast and then start the tour. You will visit the Temple of Edfu, located on the west bank of the Nile River, and dedicated to the god of gods, Horus. It is the second largest temple in Egypt after the Karnak temple and at the same time one of the best preserved. The temple was built during the Hellenistic period between 237 and 57 BC. It preserves inscriptions on the walls, which tell important information, such as mythology, religion and daily life of the civilization during the Greco-Roman period.

You will continue the journey towards Esna, passing the lock, a work on the Nile, to control a drop of about 10 meters. Then you will arrive in Luxor, the city of temples. Here, you will enjoy a tasty dinner on board, and then rest.

Day 7. LUXOR & CAIRO

You will start the day with a tasty and abundant breakfast, and then disembark and begin the tour. You will visit the Necropolis of Thebes, the so-called Valley of the Kings, located on the west bank of the Nile River, opposite Luxor. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. The valley is divided into the East and West Valley. You will find a large number of tombs, mostly belonging to Pharaohs of the New Kingdom (18th, 19th and 20th dynasties). You will visit the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, where you will find the Deir el Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon.

In the afternoon you will make the excursion to the gigantic and incredible temples of Luxor and Karnak. During the walk you will be surrounded by sphinxes and listening to the stories of the pharaohs who played an essential role in the construction of these temples.

Then, at the indicated time, transfer to Luxor airport to return to Cairo. Once there, transfer to the hotel to rest.

Day 8. FAREWELL CAIRO

At the indicated time, one of our vehicles take you to the Cairo International Airport to check in your luggage and, if necesary, process any tax refund on “tax free” products that you have purchased. From Greca hope to see you again to enjoy some wonderful moments that will remain forever in your memory.
