Hosted by Isabella Attianese, alongside highly experienced local guides and safari leaders, this eight-day Kenyan safari is designed as a deeply immersive journey through some of East Africa’s most extraordinary landscapes. From the very first day in Nairobi, the experience is carefully curated to balance comfort, connection, and adventure, with Isabella guiding the group through a thoughtfully paced itinerary that allows space for both discovery and shared moments along the way.

Travelling through the dramatic Great Rift Valley and onward to the legendary plains of the Maasai Mara, the journey blends world-class wildlife viewing with meaningful cultural encounters. Guests will search for the Big Five and rare rhinos in Lake Nakuru, glide past hippos on the waters of Lake Naivasha, and engage directly with local communities through experiences such as a village cooking class and a visit to a Maasai widows’ empowerment project in the remote Loita Hills. Each day adds a new layer of understanding to the places visited, creating a richer connection to Kenya beyond the safari vehicle.

The adventure culminates in unforgettable days on the savannah, exploring the Maasai Mara by specialised 4×4 overland vehicle and sharing stories beneath vast star-filled skies. From optional sunrise hot air balloon flights to evenings around the campfire, this journey captures the raw beauty, wildlife, and cultural depth that define Kenya. It is an experience shaped by expert leadership, genuine encounters, and moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.

Your Host

Isabella Attianese

Hi! I’m Isy, a 25-year-old NYC-based travel content creator (@isabella.lauren). After unexpectedly losing my dad, I realized life was too short to wait for the “perfect time” to start traveling—so I booked a flight. Twenty countries later, I’m now hosting my own group trips. I’ve previously hosted trips to Costa Rica and Ecuador, and they’ve been some of the most meaningful and unforgettable weeks of my life.

When I’m not traveling, I love running, hiking, listening to music, reading (mostly fantasy), and spending as much time outside as possible. I also host community events in NYC through my network, Got My Girls, which brings like-minded women together to build real connections. I hope you’ll join me—I can’t wait to experience Kenya together!

Itinerary

Day 1 Jambo! Welcome to Kenya!

Jambo and welcome to Kenya!

Your adventure begins in the vibrant capital of Nairobi. Make your own way to the joining hotel, where the group gathers for an official welcome meeting at 6:00 PM. This is your chance to meet your Host, Tour Leader, and fellow travellers, and to set the tone for the journey ahead. If you arrive earlier in the day, you may wish to dive straight into local life with an optional Nairobi Experience urban adventure, offering a guided introduction to the city’s energy, culture, and flavours, including a traditional lunch at a local restaurant.

Following the evening briefing, guests are welcome to join an optional group dinner to celebrate the start of the journey. It is a relaxed first night, designed to ease everyone into the rhythm of travel and shared adventure.

Day 2 Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

Leaving Nairobi behind, travel north-west through the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. As you descend the escarpment, sweeping views unfold across Lake Naivasha and Lake Elementaita, offering a striking introduction to Kenya’s varied terrain before arriving near Lake Nakuru National Park.

Rather than rushing straight into wildlife viewing, the afternoon focuses on cultural connection. Accompanied by your leader, you will visit a nearby village for an authentic glimpse into rural Kenyan life. A hands-on traditional cooking class invites you to learn local techniques and flavours alongside community members, with stories shared as freely as recipes. The day concludes with a communal group dinner, enjoying the meal you have prepared together.

An early start brings your first true safari experience with a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. This renowned sanctuary is one of East Africa’s best locations for spotting both black and white rhinos, alongside Rothschild giraffes, leopards, and a remarkable variety of birdlife along the alkaline lake shores.

After the morning’s wildlife encounters, continue onward to Lake Naivasha, a tranquil freshwater lake set at the highest point of the Great Rift Valley. Yellow-fever acacia trees line the water’s edge, and hippos drift lazily through the shallows as you arrive at your lakeside resort. The evening is a chance to unwind and take in the peaceful surroundings.

The afternoon offers flexibility to shape your own experience. Many guests choose to explore Hell’s Gate National Park on foot or by bicycle, one of the few places in Kenya where wildlife roams freely without vehicles. Alternatively, a guided walk at Crater Lake Sanctuary reveals dramatic volcanic scenery and the chance to spot rare colobus monkeys in the forest canopy.

Upon arrival at Tepesua Village, you are welcomed with traditional song and dance, offering an immediate and powerful introduction to local culture and community life.

During your visit, you will learn about Maasai customs, daily life, and the inspiring Tepesua Widows Income Project, which supports local women through sustainable handicraft production and community education. This meaningful cultural exchange provides rich context and insight before continuing onward to your permanent tented camp on the grassy outskirts of the legendary Maasai Mara, where the landscape opens into vast savannahs and wildlife-rich plains.

Your expert guide shares insight into animal behaviour, migration patterns, and conservation efforts as you move through key wildlife corridors. As the sun dips below the horizon, return to camp for an evening of shared stories around the campfire beneath a starlit African sky.

Later in the day, join a local Maasai guide for a guided nature walk around the camp’s perimeter. This slower-paced experience highlights traditional medicinal plants, smaller wildlife, and birdlife often missed during game drives, providing a deeper appreciation of the Mara’s quieter details.
