Managing Emergencies & Other Issues on Your Best In Travel Adventure
At Best In Travel, we’re all about unforgettable experiences – but we also know that things don’t always go exactly to plan. Whether it’s a medical emergency or a simple hotel hiccup, we’re here to help you stay safe, feel supported, and keep your trip running smoothly.
This guide walks you through what to do in an emergency, and how to deal with non-emergency issues, so you can focus on making memories and having the time of your life.
🚨 What To Do In An Emergency
Your safety is our top priority. If something serious happens – like a medical emergency or accident – take the following steps:
- Speak to your local guide or trip/tour leader
Your local guide is your go-to person in any emergency. They are most likely trained to handle health and safety situations, so they’ll support you and guide you on what happens next. If you do not have a local guide, then speak to your trip host. - Know where to find medical help
Ask your guide where the nearest clinics or hospitals are. It’s useful to know this early on, just in case. - Call emergency services if needed
If something needs urgent attention, contact local emergency services immediately. If you have a guide, they will help you make the call or do it on your behalf. - Tell your travel companions
Keep others in the loop, especially if you need help. They can support you and assist with communication if required. - Stay calm and follow instructions
It’s natural to feel overwhelmed – but staying calm helps everyone respond effectively. Your guide, host and local authorities are there to support you. - Carry key documents
Always keep your ID, travel insurance details, and any medical notes in a safe, easy-to-reach place. It’s also smart to leave copies with someone back home. - Keep emergency contact info on hand
Have a list of important numbers with you. The emergency contact for your local operator should be contained on your mobile trip itinerary – you may wish to save this number just in case. You should also have your own important numbers handy at all times, including someone back home and your travel insurer. Make sure Best In Travel has the latest emergency contact details before you go.
🌏 Note: Whilst we are here to support you, Best In Travel may not be able to assist you in a timely manner in an urgent emergency situation during your trip, so it is very important that you always follow the steps above first.
⚠️ Handling Non-Emergency Issues
Not everything is a crisis – but small problems can still impact your trip. Here’s how to get things sorted quickly and easily when issues do arise:
-
Report issues early
If something’s not right, let your local guide and host know as soon as possible. They can then decide if it is something they are able to help with, or whether we need to be notified. The earlier they know, the faster it can be fixed. -
Be clear and helpful
Share details – not just that there’s a problem, but what you’d like done. For example, “My room has no hot water” is more helpful than just “My room is bad.” -
Stay flexible
Travel comes with surprises – weather delays, hotel mix-ups, or minor hiccups. A bit of patience can go a long way. -
Escalate if necessary
If your host can’t resolve the issue, they’ll loop in our support team to step in and help. -
Give us feedback
After your trip, we’d love to hear what went well – and what didn’t. Your feedback helps us improve and makes sure every future trip is even better.
🏦 Consular Assistance
Should you require consular assistance, please find your home country’s consulate contact details here: https://www.embassypages.com/. It’s a good idea to have this number saved just in case.
