JROD Captures

Hey I’m Jarrod, or as my mates call me JROD! I’m a Gym Owner/Personal Trainer by trade but I’ve had a love of travel and adventure for as long as I can remember, which has taken me to 32 countries so far, plus I’ve also lived in the USA, Canada and England. My passion for photography has grown over the years while travelling and I now love to base my trips on creating epic landscape shots, and the harder the location or environment the more I enjoy myself.

My goal when creating a landscape shot is to try and grab your attention and pull you in so that you also want to get out to that place and experience it for yourself or take your own version of that epic photo. I would love for you to go on an epic adventure with me so I can help you create some incredible shots and moments you will never forget.

Rob Embury

I’m a Melbourne-based travel, landscape, nature, weather, and astrophotographer with a passion for chasing wild light and remote landscapes. Whether it’s dramatic storms, mountain vistas, or starlit skies, I’m always searching for moments that tell a story and reveal the hidden beauty of the natural world.

My passion for photography is about more than just taking photos – it’s about helping people see things they’ve never noticed before. I also run international photography tours, guiding small groups to extraordinary destinations and sharing the skills and techniques behind the images.

I’m very much looking forward to connecting with creators and explorers, and to hitting up a bunch of beautiful and bucket-list destinations with you! ✌️🌩️🌄🌌📸

Itinerary

Day 1 - Monday Feb 16th 2026 Reykjavik to Skogafoss

Your adventure begins with a 9:00 AM meet-up in Reykjavik before setting off along the dramatic south coast of Iceland. The first stop is the picturesque Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind the cascading water for a unique perspective. We’ll also check out a DC-3 plane wreck at Eyvindarholt – a lesser known spot that is far easier to access than the Sólheimasandur wreck, but just as awesome.

From there, continue on to Skogafoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful and photogenic waterfalls. Just a short walk away is the hidden gem Kvernufoss, tucked into a narrow gorge and often overlooked by crowds. Spend the night at the base of Skogafoss, where you’ll have the opportunity to capture the northern lights dancing above the waterfall if conditions are right.

  • Whilst Aurora Borealis viewing can’t be guaranteed, we’ll take every possible opportunity to shoot it when conditions allow.
  • Our exact itinerary is subject to change based on conditions.

Day 2 - Tuesday, February 17th 2026 Skogafoss to Höfn

This morning, travel through the charming village of Vik before heading to Reynisfjara Beach, famous for its black sand, basalt columns, and roaring Atlantic waves. Continue to the jaw-dropping Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, a winding river gorge carved through mossy cliffs.

After a stop at Svínafellsjökull Glacier, reach Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, where floating icebergs drift toward the sea. Just across the road lies Diamond Beach, where glittering ice chunks rest against the jet-black sand. Cap off the day with an unforgettable Ice Cave Experience before settling into your hotel in Höfn. If skies are clear, you may be treated to a northern lights display at Vestrahorn mountain.

Pause at the jagged beauty of Krossanesfjall (Eystrahorn), a lesser-known gem with equally stunning mountain views. After a day of photography and scenic drives, arrive in the tranquil fishing village of Djúpivogur, where you’ll rest for the night. Arrive in the Lake Mývatn area, a region of otherworldly geothermal activity. Visit the pseudocraters at Skútustaðagígar, then relax in the area’s famous thermal baths if you wish. This region is perfect for those seeking dramatic volcanic landscapes mixed with moments of quiet reflection. After dark, if we have clear skies, we’ll likely seek the aurora over the lake, with plenty of excellent viewpoints available.

Later, visit Hvitserkur – also known as “Troll Rock” – a 15-meter tall basalt stack rising from the sea, steeped in local legend. Finish the day in the peaceful village of Laugarbakki, with the rock another potential aurora spot later on if we are lucky with conditions.
