Hi, my name is Leah, also known as @offtheclocknurse. My passion for travel began when I started working as a Travel Operating Room Nurse, moving to different states throughout the US every 13 weeks. I was allotted the time off and finances to take a month off in between contracts to solo explore different countries. Currently, I am working permanently in Colorado, USA, as a Forensic Nurse Examiner. My hope for hosting trips is to encourage others to break out of their comfort zone, embrace adventure, and learn about different cultures. Won’t you join me?
Itinerary
Day 1 ¡Bienvenidos a México!
¡Bienvenidos a México! Arrive in Mexico City at your own pace and make your way to the group’s starting point. 🏨 Check in at Hotel Catedral (or similar), ideally located in the heart of the historic centre – perfect for a first taste of the city’s vibrant energy, colonial architecture, and cultural gems.
In the evening, come together for a welcome group dinner (🍽️ at own expense) where you’ll meet your fellow adventurers and enjoy your first bites of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Day 2 Rosario Butterfly Reserve & Valle de Bravo
After an early breakfast, set off for a bucket-list-worthy experience at the El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Reserve in Michoacán (approx. 3.5 hrs / 120 miles). This UNESCO-listed site is one of the most extraordinary natural spectacles in North America – millions of monarch butterflies fluttering in the forests, suspended mid-air or clustered on trees like vibrant leaves.
Explore the reserve by foot or on horseback, guided by local experts who’ll share insights on the monarchs’ epic migration and the importance of preserving their habitat.
Later in the day, travel to Valle de Bravo (approx. 2.25 hrs / 70 miles), a charming lakeside town surrounded by forested mountains. Wander its cobbled streets, take in the lakeside views, and settle into your hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 3 Valle de Bravo
Ease into the day with a leisurely breakfast before heading out on a guided walking tour of Valle de Bravo. Wander through the historic centre, admire the San Francisco de Asís Church, and enjoy panoramic views over Lake Avándaro.
The afternoon is yours to explore. Dive into artisan markets, enjoy a lakeside walk, or simply relax in one of Mexico’s most beautiful pueblos mágicos.
