Your Host

Katie Clark

Hi, I’m Katie! I’m a mom of three amazing adult kids, a Registered Nurse for 20 years, and a solo travel enthusiast turned group trip host and content creator.

After spending years working overtime in the ER and pouring everything into my family, I found myself burned out and craving more than just waiting for the next escape. So I made a bold decision: to stop living for vacations — and start building a life I didn’t want to escape from. I’ve been traveling solo off and on since I was 18, but in 2018, I planned my first group trip to Italy — and discovered a gift for creating meaningful, joy-filled itineraries that connect people and spark confidence.

Three years ago, I closed the chapter on a 23-year marriage, and since then, I’ve completely redefined my life on my terms. These days, I split my time between solo adventures and exploring the world with my fiancé — showing other midlife women (and men) that it’s never too late to chase your dreams, take that trip, and rediscover yourself along the way.

If you’re ready to reconnect with your joy, meet new friends, and travel like never before… I’ve got a spot for you. Life is short. Take the trip. ✈️

This welcoming town is full of life, color and charm – a great place to settle in before the safari begins. You’ll also visit a local coffee plantation where you’ll learn how beans are grown, harvested, roasted, and brewed – ending, of course, with a delicious fresh cup.

After lunch in a village setting, head to Chemka Hot Springs, a hidden oasis of warm, turquoise water surrounded by palms. Take a dip, float under the sun, and enjoy a moment of total relaxation before continuing on to your next lodge near Arusha.

Keep your eyes peeled for lions resting under trees, herds of zebras and wildebeest crossing the plains, and elusive leopards lurking in the shadows.

You’ll enjoy a full game drive through diverse terrain – from riverbeds to open grassland – before arriving at your luxurious lodge perched above Lake Manyara. Take in sweeping views from the infinity pool or relax in your spacious villa as the sun sets over the Rift Valley.

As you drive, you may spot elephants, buffalo and even leopards wandering among the dense greenery. Along the way, you’ll stop for a visit to a traditional Maasai village – a fascinating window into one of East Africa’s most iconic cultures, included complimentary for your group. This is a transition day with built-in safari opportunities as you make your way to the great plains of the Serengeti.

Once you arrive, your first game drive awaits. The wide-open savannah and iconic acacia trees create the perfect backdrop for spotting giraffes, lions and herds of wildebeest. This is the Africa of documentaries and dreams – vast, wild and unforgettable.

Day 6 Serengeti to Ndutu Region

Enjoy one final Serengeti game drive before heading south to the quieter Ndutu region near Lake Masek. The Serengeti never disappoints, and mornings are often the best time to catch predators on the move – keep your eyes peeled for lion prides, cheetahs and hyenas as the savannah wakes up. From here, your journey south takes you through ever-changing landscapes as the iconic plains give way to the woodlands and seasonal wetlands of the Ndutu area. Your vehicle doubles as a safari lookout the entire way, with wildlife sightings possible at every turn.

Lake Masek itself is a draw for elephants, zebras and a remarkable variety of birdlife, and the atmosphere here feels noticeably wilder and more remote than the busier northern circuits. Arrive, settle in, and let the surroundings do the rest. Your lodge tonight is a luxurious tented camp on raised platforms overlooking the lake – where animals often wander in to drink as the sun goes down. Fall asleep to the sounds of the wild all around you.

🍽️ Included Meals:

  • Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  • Drinking Water, Non-alcoholic Drinks, Beer & Wine in Vehicle

The crater floor is home to more than 25,000 animals, including black rhinos, lions, hyenas, elephants and countless antelope species. Your early morning game drive offers the best light for photography and the highest chance of spotting active predators.

After a thrilling day of safari, you’ll return to Arusha to reflect on your adventure over a relaxing dinner.

Important Notes

ARRIVAL:
Group airport transfers are included on arrival. More information on this will be provided in your mobile itinerary once the transfers have been arranged based on your arrival flight schedule. Your arrival airport is Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO).

MANDATORY INBOUND TRAVEL INSURANCE
Zanzibar requires all foreign visitors to purchase a government-mandated travel insurance policy before arrival. Proof of cover is checked at immigration, and travellers without it may be denied entry. Mainland Tanzania has announced a similar scheme, but it is not yet in force – no local inbound insurance is currently required for the mainland.

This scheme is a basic safety net and does not replace comprehensive personal travel insurance, which we still strongly recommend.

It is essential that you read the Mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance section of our Tanzania & Zanzibar destination guide before travel for current fees, coverage, official portals, and the exact purchase process.

DEPARTURE:
On the final day, you are free to depart at any time. A group airport transfer is provided – more information on this will be provided once the trip is confirmed to allow you to coordinate flights with your fellow guests. Your departure airport is Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (Zanzibar) Airport (ZNZ).

AIRPORT TRANSFERS:
Group airport transfers are included as part of this trip. If you are unable to join the group transfers, you will need to make your own arrangements. More specific information on transport options for your arrival and departure airports will be available on the airport’s website.

Pre-booked airport transfers are available for most airports via Expedia – please select “Cars” and then “Airport Transportation”: https://bit.ly/expedia-best-in-travel-vip
